OMG I hate dial-up

Colin and I are now back at his parents' place. We moved out of our flat last week. It was sad to say goodbye to the awesome views, but I was glad to escape the insane condensation and mold. One of my fleece pullovers suffered a mold attack. :(

I hate dial-up internet. I had 33.6 kbps the other day. Tonight I have 49.3 kbps. I almost can't use facebook. When I update my status, type runs on a 1 second delay, and when I hit the update button, my computer takes so long to send and receive information that safari kind of times-out and I have to close and restart safari. I'm literally internetting with internet connect and my activity monitor running, so I know when the data stops flowing and action must be taken.

I had my last day at work today THANK GOD. No more ouchie feet and ugly work outfits and stupid, stupid, did-I-mention-stupid? bosses. At least they gave me some fizzy wine and ferrero rocher chocolates. Doesn't make up for leaving me out of 2 staff functions (=$200 allocated for me to have fun). 10 months of hell is over. Consider it insurance that I will not get lazy and give up on finishing my PhD. Now, I know what the consequences could be....

Colin's dad is walking across Scotland and England. Like, all of Scotland and England. Pretty impressive. He's blogging it (through phone calls to Colin, Colin's mom, and via his fancy internetty mobile phone). He's also fundraising for leukemia research and the Malagan Institute (cancer research).

OMG earthquake RIGHT NOW!!! OMFG SO COOL.

Okay, check out Richard's blog: www.cancerwalker.com. People can sponsor a day of the walk, if they like. Sandy (my dog) and I sponsored day 6. Colin wrote the post, if you can't tell.

6 weeks until TA orientation at UConn!!!
