Life is progressing. Colin may have a job on campus soon, or he may not. We'll find out when we see the contract with the salary. Right now we have no clue what it could be. If Colin can take the job... YAY!!! Weekends together, evenings together, and maybe even lunches together. If not, uuuuggghhhh, and I would also have to buy a second car to get to Avery Point and to dance class, the gym, etc. Not fun. I hope he can take the job. We would even get a couple weeks off together for the holidays!
I should be doing work, but I am cleaning the house and posting here. I've got a MASSIVE amount of work to do in the next 9 days... an hour long presentation in Marine Microbiology, my NSF fellowship proposal application submission, and a 3 page research proposal for Marine Microbiology. Plus I have 2 SEM sessions in that space of time, which is a 6 hour loss of working time for my other projects, and I haven't made progress in the lab in weeks (that's another story though). All of this is manageable, though. What's NOT manageable is people-drama on top of it. I try to ignore it, REALLY TRY to ignore it, but it never seems to end. I'm hoping people-drama will decrease after the end of the school year, but it looks like it may continue for another summer/year. I love science, I love grad school, I love teaching, but if anything makes me run screaming away from here, it's the stupid stupid people-drama!!!
Fall was nice, and now it's over. The trees are brown and sad. I finally got some houseplants. If it's not going to be insanely green outside, I better make it green inside. It makes me happy and the oxygen production helps me study. That's how I justify spending money on plants... the extra oxygen. :)
