Mold and Disease

I have a disease! It's exciting. Only because my life is currently NOT exciting. I have Reynaud's Disease. Basically, I have cold hands and feet, and not as a side effect of any heart condition. My feet were going numb all day at work, even while wearing 2 pairs of socks and my hiking boots, and they wouldn't heat up until I took a shower. Thank you, high heat capacity of water. Sticking my feet in front of a heater for an hour doesn't even help on cold days. So, I somehow managed to see a doctor as a casual patient (a feat in the Wellington region, which has one of the worst doctor shortages in the country). I got a doctor's note for work, so I can demand better conditions from head office next time the southerlies hit bad and it's 45 deg F inside the building. This problem hasn't ever been much of a problem before. Sacramento and Wellington have similar winter temperatures, but buildings in Wellington are built like shacks with no heating. My feet will be happier in Connecticut than here. However, I might invest in some battery powered heated footbeds for my walks to school in the snow.  :)

My house has been taken over by mold. It attacked Colin's messenger bag. It attacked his red sweatshirt. It attacked my neoprene computer sleeve. It even attacked my DESK. Yes, my desk had patches of mold on it today. I wiped it off, and now I'm using Colin's desk, which is now in the living room, since we are too poor to heat the moldy computer room. Colin tried to protect our clothes from the mold by saran-wrapping our entire closet when we moved in (the walls are moldy and it won't wipe off), but his red sweatshirt was still attacked. I think I saved it with lots of detergent and a very hot wash, thankfully. There's now also mold growing along the floor boards in the living room. Yucky. Enough of the mold report...

I'm putting in 4 weeks notice of my intention to say buh-bye to Macpac on Wednesday! Hurrah! I'm sad to move out of my awesome little apartment (love the views!), but I can't wait to quit my stupid job, and while I don't want to be separated from Colin again, I can't wait to get back to the states. Colin did some research on processing times for his visa. Turns out the California Processing Center is speedier than most, so we might be apart for as little as 6 weeks.  I can kind of deal with 6 weeks.  It's better than 6 months.

I can't wait to start grad school!!!  2.5 months to go!!!
