Food and Happiness

Tonight I made beef steak (as opposed to buffalo) for the first time ever! Our broiler was broken, so I did a quick google search and made steak in a pan! And it was pretty good! I highly recommend steak in a pan.

There was a baby hedgehog hiding in the driveway shrubbery the other night. I tried to take a photo, but it went back into the bush when Colin shined the flashlight on it.

Everything is going well.  I think Colin and I are genuinely borderline happy for the first time this year.  The Big Trip and the Big Decision are over and done with.  We still have a lot to save and plan for -- moving to the states, new car, new furniture, where to live, whether or not to get the extra pre-residency work permit, can we get Colin's plane ticket on points -- AHHHHH! -- but it's okay for once.  There's money in the bank accounts, although it disappears as fast at it appears, but not faster, so it's okay.  We're having more days off together, now that Colin's only working 5 days a week.  We're having more fun -- more trips and activities outside of the house.  We didn't do a fun thing for about 6 months.  I didn't have time to sleep, much less have fun, and he was working 6 days a week and was too tired for anything, and we were frantically saving money for my trip back to the states.  It was horrible.  The summer came and left before we got to enjoy it.  Summer=cicadas trying to fly into my mouth on the walk home from work, rather than nice days on the beach.  Oh well.  Life is good now, and that's what matters.
